Training to me is what a cup of coffee and a cold beer is to most - the beginning and end of every day. I wake up before dawn to a swimming pool and often get off my bike just after sunset. Even work days are part of my training. They are rest days, and rest plays an integral role in any professional training regime. Does training make triathlon a lifestyle? Yes. An identity? Partially. An addiction? Perhaps. People often ask how I am able to keep up with such a physically demanding schedule, but to be honest, I cannot imagine life without it. It keeps me feeling healthy, like I've invested a portion of each day into my own well-being. A brainiac commits his life to studying for exams. I commit to training everyday and aspire to demonstrate my learned skills in the competition of triathlon. The rest of my life is just that - rest.
